The Department of Community and Economic Development includes the Divisions of Community Development, Economic Development and Financial & Program Management.  The department does planning and implementation of a wide variety of development projects and programs within specifically designated geographic areas of South Bend, as well as housing assistance, business assistance, and administration of various federal grants throughout the city.  The department also serves as staff to seven related non-profit agencies which help carry out the department's mission to expand and create opportunities for the citizens of South Bend.
