In his annual State of the City address, given on President's Day Feb. 16, Mayor Stephen Luecke recalled the admonition of President Abraham Lincoln, who said that during times "piled high with difficulty... we must think anew and act anew." Mayor Luecke reflected that those words ring fresh today and reported that South Bend will not only survive, but will thrive because of new initiatives that are underway, new ways of addressing challenges.
