  Historic Districts

As a city steeped in history, South Bend has nine neighborhoods designated as local historic districts and seven listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These areas have a high concentration of structures with historic significance, and have been designated for preservation.

Living in one of South Bend's historic districts, residents are assured that the charm and character of their neighborhood will be protected for generations. They also will benefit from stable neighborhoods and stable or rising home values.

For information about each of South Bend's historic districts, visit the historic districts section of the web site for the Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend and St. Joseph County.
