The South Bend Fire Department will hold a recruitment event at the Kroc Center, 900 W. Western Ave., on Saturday, March 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 11 a.m.
There will be two sessions, the first from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., and the second from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Each session will explain the hiring process, and will provide application forms.
South Bend Firefighters perform a wide variety of administrative and technical tasks and functions in support of fire suppression, fire prevention, hazardous materials, emergency medical, and other emergency services.
Applicants must be between 21 and 35 years of age at the time of being sworn in for years 2015 and 2016. Applicants should also have a high school diploma or GED, a clean driving and criminal record, and be in good physical shape.
